Free Small Business Checking Account

After research and as mentioned in a previous article we choose to go with National City Bank for their Free Small Business Checking Account. It just takes your Articles of Organization, Federal EIN, and $50 to open the account.

This appeared to be better than offers at Chase and Comerica. One sticky issue, though, is getting Avery on the account without coming into the bank in person (not very possible since he's in China). The bank claimed it was standard procedure and made reference to the Patriot Act, but they said they'd look into options for getting him added to the account. In the meantime, we're up and running and I've placed a transfer for our initial startup capital to the account!

Within a couple days we'll be a fully formed company with funding, web space, and a sales tax license!

National City Points

Another nice perk of this account is that you get points for transactions. When you start the account, you already have enough points to redeem for an Amazon.com gift card. Flight vouchers aren't far off, especially on an active account.
